U.S. Defense Contractor Sitting on Critical DHS Council Linked to Chinese Intel Agency.

A defense contractor involved in U.S. military aviation parts production has come under scrutiny due to the alleged ties of its CEO with Chinese intelligence agencies. S&L Aerospace Metals LLC supplies critical components for American fighter aircraft and is led by Jerry Wang, who reportedly has connections with organizations linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The Department of Defense has awarded significant contracts to S&L for parts used in various military aircraft, helicopters, and missile launchers. Despite these contracts, questions have been raised about Wang’s associations, including his presence at numerous CCP events alongside top party officials. Wang, through legal representation, has denied any affiliations with foreign political entities but did not refute the evidence of his appearances at these events.

The United Front Work Department (UFWD), an intelligence arm of the CCP, has identified Wang as a member in several instances. The UFWD is known for its role in shaping China’s influence strategies abroad. Critics argue that Wang’s role in U.S. defense supply chains presents substantial risks, with potential implications for national security.

Officials and analysts have expressed concern regarding this situation. L.J. Eads, a former intelligence analyst with the U.S. Air Force, emphasized the gap in oversight within the defense contracting system. His view is echoed by Representative John Moolenaar (R-MI), who chairs the House Select Committee on the CCP and has called for urgent measures to address these vulnerabilities.

Meanwhile, S&L Aerospace maintains its position on a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) council focusing on critical manufacturing security. The company asserts there is no influence from foreign entities but lacks a detailed explanation of Wang’s documented associations.
